Crossing the ocean with Thomas Van Woensel
The Vandal has been a member of Greenspark, a platform that allows small and large businesses

Vandal an amount to Greenspark, which in our name plants trees and sustainable
supports projects.
Greenspark's founders are optimists, just like The Vandal. They believe that every
organization, every company, has it in them to do well. But they also know that it takes a lot
takes energy to run a business, and that there is often little room left to be busy
with sustainability and carbon offsetting. That's where Greenspark can help.
A shared vision of the garment industry
‘As soon as I heard about Greenspark and found out about their operation, I joined The Vandal at
the community connected,’ says Toon from The Vandal. ‘We pay a monthly fee for
the workings of Greenspark. Per order, we donate an additional amount to donate a tree to
plants (€0.34) and save two plastic bottles from the ocean (€0.10). Specifically, plant
Greenspark trees in Central America, Africa and other locations with that money. Whether they
Support projects that recycle plastic bottles but also provide employment opportunities for
endangered communities.’
A membership at Greenspark is not an easy solution for The Vandal to overcome the
ease conscience or make an impact with little effort. It is an important part of
of our vision.
The Vandal is very conscious of the impact the garment industry has on people and
our planet. We choose ecological textiles, printing and packaging materials. We keep
our production chain short and our collections small to avoid overstock. But also
working conditions are crucial, and we are therefore proud of our Fair Wear and GOTS-
tags.
Planting mangrove forests together
The Vandal joined Greenspark to make a positive impact on our planet

For example, we already planted six soccer fields of trees, divided into a project with mangroves
in Kenya and an economic project that helps local people find work in Madagascar,
Haiti, Nepal, Indonesia, Mozambique, Kenya, Nicaragua and Honduras.
