This retro Belgium t-shirt is inspired by the cycling jersey that the Belgian champion used to wear in the peloton. It was a jersey that many men dreamed of wearing, as a lot of cyclists were hopeful at the start of the championship. But only one of them could be the winner, and after he put on this sought-after jersey, he would listen to the Brabanconne, proudly wearing the black-yellow-red sash aroung his waist, knowing that he would be the only one to wear this shirt for coming year. With this design, we would like to pay homage to Rik Van Looy, the emperor of Herentals. Even though he is often reminded of that one World Championship he missed, in Ronse 1963, we shouldn’t forget that he did win the Belgian championship no less than four times: twice as an amateur and twice as a professional… Which means that he owns four of these precious jerseys, a staggering collection.
